The biggest controversy to me as a preorder player is the replacement of satramane gases and other OG rare resources with something so mundane as "Exotic gases" . Stellaris was not the same after that.

I’ve been a stellaris fan since release, but I’ve given up on it. Astral rifts was a joke, just reskinned archaeology. Machine age was ludicrously overpriced, I bought Manor Lords instead for the same price. This one looks lame, like it should be in a free update along with an actual DLC.

This expansion sounds so dumb. Not going to lie or pretend different.

im concerned how the ai's will handle weather events. ai has issue even with base game. adding weather events. . . dont expect ai to handle that well. tried mods with weather events before. seemed ok, stopped using it due to ai having issues with it.

I was astonished hearing it was only a 12 hour game with how much happened. ...my twelve hour games are lucky to get to mid/end game since if I go faster than normal for too long I fall behind because there's always so much to balance or read. Micromanagement is hard and I frequently have to pause 😅 Honestly wish there were QoL mods to pre-design ships and fleets.

A whole DLC about space weather? They're really scraping the bottom of the rain water barrel.

Instead, how about revamping planetary invasions or at least make armies remain in the outlier after mid game.

IIRC, with the nomads you don't need to disable Megacorp as a whole in order to see them, you just need to disable the caravaneers during galaxy creation?

I have almost 3k hours in Stellaris. It’s one of my favourite games. I wish that they would stop updating it with big things like this now. I barely have time to complete a single run in less than a month these days. I get one or two hours every few days. By the time I finish a run there’s already some big update about to happen. Tired of it, honestly. Why not start developing Stellaris 2? At this point it’s just bloat

Space weather... In a galaxy that can be about 200,000 Light Years across? The fastest particles take 200,000 years to cross... and there's never been any indication that this exists. On top of that, star's magnetic fields would generally block that stuff anyway... I'm sorry, but my suspension of disbelief is broken already.

Honestly having more interesting phenomena "terrain" would be nice as lets be honest choosing right engagement system is closest we've ever got to any forms of tactics. Storms would be fine if the effect don't last forever and wasn't bloody boring but having smaller more intensive effects could be fun. And tehre is a lot of other things you can do, maybe events that after the storm spawns some unique but limited resource that unlock some powerful building or edict but because it disappears it makes areas it spawns into highly desirable, maybe "high tectonics" areas doing something similar. Tech that allows you to cause articial one, tech that may allow you to predict them in advance so you can prepare or maybe manipulate where they spawn? I mean there's a lot. But even the thing I've mention about creating the contested areas relies on my permanent gripe which is AI an general and DIPLOMACY in particular. Diplomacy to me is the weakest area of the game and the DIplomacy DLC was probably highest disappointment because it barely added any.

I've loved this game since its beta way back, making me feel old now. But if this dlc doesn't add anything substantial, it's a waste of money. Weather was never a fun mechanic, mainly because you never notice it impact anything... except for a certain end game crisis. While adding flavor to the weather is nice and seeing them move will be leasing to the eye. I doubt it's going to make any meaningful impact to gameplay. My personal opinion.

Still no gas based life forms

New space hazards/terrain/storms and storm events sound interesting. Maybe their could be unique space-borne aliens that live in certain areas as their preferred habitats. Or maybe some newly added space aliens could fill that role? Like Space Whales that feed on the energy of space storms? Or Giant Space octopi that cause space tempests when they enter a system? Like a roving Leviathan type of threat? Actually speaking of leviathans, it'd be cool to breed our own or to take over and use more of them. Like special projects where you cybernetically enhance or control these space beasts, like the Giant Space Amoeba you can get, could become something even better?

Sounds like a bunch of gimmiks and annoying modifiers that will RNG your whole fleet out of existence and throw you back the Fleetpower loop to year 0. I'm still conceive they need to rework the stupid fleet system anything else is just... wasted.

The some of the storm bios and effects don't seem to match up, I hope that's just an error because it doesn't make sense otherwise.

Ah yes, a new update late into the modding cycle to break them all again. MY FAVORITE.

This DLC specifically seems kind of underwhelming but with the sheer amount of content machine age has, I think I can let it slide that they take it a bit easy after that.
